Re: Domain Level Transfer

I just want to add, by way of reassurance, that whilst hopefully situations like this won't be common the forum will always have at least one active admin keeping an eye on things and at least one other admin who might not be actively working on anything but who will be avaliable to step in when nee...

Re: Domain Level Transfer

Thanks for all the time and work you've put in DP. This place honestly wouldn't exist without you.

Re: A little Announcement

To be honest I'd kind of forgotten this topic was here. I do have some good news though: DP has another job (I believe that's part of the reason he's not around much), and in addition to Treesprites offer of alternative hosting I've also recently aquired some webspace where I could move Ctopi...

Re: Reviewing the rules and terms of use

How much adult type art and fiction do we actually generate, and how many of us really want to read norn smut anyway? O.o Really now. I don't see any real point in considering an 18+ section. Besides, this is a community that has always been open and safe for younger members, I don't see any reason...

Reviewing the rules and terms of use

It's been a while since Ctopia was set up and our current rules were written (a year and a half!), a lot can and has changed in that time and I'm thinking it's time we considered some changes to the rules and terms of use as well. I've come up with a list of stuff I think needs reconsidering, but th...

Re: In regards to the recent increase in spambot activity

Believe me I don't like it either. As soon as I can get back on my computer and put some better methods in place (some of which require FTP access which I don't have from here) things will be back to normal, this is just a short term solution.

Re: In regards to the recent increase in spambot activity

Woah! Sorry we let things get so messed up, really wasn't supposed to happen! Thanks for your patience and understanding everyone. :) As of now the following methods are in place: a) You now have to be logged in to see the forum. It might be a pain for some people (me for one) but it does seem to de...

Re: Piratical Festivities

Yeah I'm sorry about that one, I knew it wouldn't be perfect but I hadn't considered things like that. But the censors been changed back now, it was supposed to be done yesterday but I wasn't able to get online to change it.

Piratical Festivities

Ahoy thar matey's, today be In'national Talk Like A Pirate Day and as ye scurvey seadogs may have no'iced ye have little choice in the matter as ye ship board censor has translated all ye landlubber blubberin's into true nautical talk! Re: CCSF Idea

Hmmm....Everyone should have been able to post in it from the day it was created, I'm not quite sure what went wrong to stop it but it should be fixed now.

Let us know if there's any more problems.

CCSF Idea

So there's been a lot of talk lately about the CCSF, what went wrong this year and how to avoid it happening again. One notable problem was that no one had anything ready in time, which I know has been an issue in the past as well. The deadline has been moved back to give people more time but speaki...

Re: The Loss of the GameWare Forums

I don't think Gameware really needed new rules at all, it already had rules in place. The problem was there weren't clearly defined or displayed so many people didn't know or understand them and they weren't enforced. A topic with the rules laid out in clear english and a couple of moderators to enf...

Re: Forum Rules

Really minor change: Having come to the conclusion that 6. and 7. weren't really rules I've changed the second half of the first post into a 'notes on the rules' section.

Nothing's really changed, it just makes more sense this way.....I think.

Re: Projects Phoenix and Ark

As you already know from our earlier MSN conversation I think this is a fantastic idea. I don't really know how you would go about putting it into practice but I'd recommend contacting the Creature Repository team since I suspect the internal workings of the site could be very similar to that one (s...

Re: Request for subforum name modification

Well anything regarding the size of uploads would be DP's call since it's his bandwidth that's being eaten up. But I can't see any reason we can't do something about a section for useful resources, either a re-named links section or a new forum/sub-forum. I'd like to see if anyone else has any ideas...

Re: On the matter of censorship

out of interest dani, can you give us an idea of what this 'no-no' word is so nobody accidentally incurs your wrath? This is just a guess, but from my experience the word most people hate (especially women) rhymes with shunt, and I really can't ever imagine a need to use that word here, ever . That...

Re: On the matter of censorship

Hmm...this could be interesting. The word filter isn't something that came with the forum. The system itself did but no words were altomatically filtered - that's something I did. Which might seem odd if I tell you I don't have anything against swearing and in fact frequently (sometimes too frequent...

Re: Banner Contest Voting

The poll should have ended but the builders installing a new shower cleverly broke my internet so I wasn't able to get on here and set up the new banner ect. But the contest is now closed. The winner, by quite a long way, is number 7, which will be our new banner in a few moments. Massive thanks to ...

Re: Games Forum?

I'm sure you didn't offend anyone and suggestions are always welcome. Like I said it might well be something that we do later on, it's just that right now I'd rather stay away from anything that could be seen as encoraging pointless posts. Which is not to say all those games are pointless either, it...

Banner Contest Voting

Due to unforseen circumstances (aka my internet sucks) this topic is starting later than originally intended, so the end date will be moved back to Monday evening to allow people time to vote. All 16 ideas submitted are avalible to vote for. Several are variations on a theme, but it seems a shame to...

Re: Games Forum?

Actually it's pretty short. Evidently some people either weren't there or forgot about the EC's sig plot... Yeah but that was only for a short time, and designed specifically to annoy people. (I sometimes think they should change their name to the Irritating Council. ;)) At the moment theres no lim...

Re: uhh forum view bug. and other little bugs I guess

Yeah on Blackstar they have a badge thing on their belt instead. Personally I've always found it helpful to have something that makes it easy to tell moderators and admins appart from normal users - esspecially for new people who haven't had time to get to know everyone but need to contact a staff m...

Re: Sub-Forum Idea

also, don't have a laundry list of damned rules, give people a very simple set of concepts and roll with it e: in this forum's case, "don't be useless" pretty much sums up the entire rule thing in announcements The entire reason we have the rules spelled out is that just having a basic co...

Re: About the current skin...

Yes.

That's what I mean - this theme will be kept as the default (Which will show up for anyone who's logged out or who hasn't changed it manually) but then there could be others which people would be able to choose for themselves on their profile.

Re: uhh forum view bug. and other little bugs I guess

Mwah! The power of smiley guilt!

Don't worry, as I said in the other thread Daan's suggestion is pretty much what I was going to do originally so it's no big deal for me if it gets changed over.

And hey, maybe one day I'll make myself my very own theme with whatever eggs I want.
